New five, Lionfish!

Lionfish
Thanks to Jensdj at the forums I now have gotten hold of info and screenshot on the Lionfish which can be caught at Pinheira Beach. The only fish at Pinheira that I'm still missing info and screenshots on now is the Nassau Grouper.

Seagull Harbor have now also been added to the Area Fishing Guide.

The crew working on Fishao are doing a real good job and are continuously improving and fixing things in the game. Among other things I noticed now that fish caught inside the Pyramid in Mystic Desert no longer says that it was caught in Cool Mountain, it now correctly says Pyramid.

And we know that there are some new cool features, gadgets etc that are going to be implemented. So keep your eyes open guys =)

NEW 5-star fish Caught & Fishao updated!

Today the new update to fishao has been implemented. The energy recovery time has been decreased from three to two minutes. So you don't have to wait as long to recover.

Tiger trout new wr, 91cm!

We have some really nice updates to the 5-star section too. First one is that the WR for Tiger Trout has been increased from 69 cm to 91 cm!

The person who sent me his screenshot of this is Fisheur. Gratz to that!

Golden Dorado!

And also a brand NEW "five" has been been caught and reported in from Weezle. It's the Golden Dorado, caught in Rio Tropical during nighttime on a Shad!

Using IRL info to catch Fishao fish

Today a chart for Aquayama has been added to the Area fishing guide.

I was trying to figure out how to catch some of the yet "uncaught" fish. Since the fish in Fishao are fish that exist in real life I thought that google might give me some ideas, and it did!

Here is what I have found so far:

Lionfish (Pinheira Beach):

*According to a study that involved the dissection of over 1,400 lionfish stomachs from Bahamian to North Carolinian waters, Pterois (Lionfish) prey mostly on small fish. The amount of prey in lionfish stomachs over the course of the day suggest that lionfish feed most actively from 7:00–11:00 am, with decreased feeding throughout the afternoon.

Nassau Grouper (Pinheira Beach):

*It is a solitary fish, feeding in the daytime, mainly on other fish and small crustaceans such as crabs and small lobsters. It spawns in December and January, always around the time of the full moon.

Arapaima (Possibly a fish that exist in Rio Tropical, that Bob is talking about):

*The diet of the arapaima consists of fish, crustaceans, even small land animals that walk near the shore./.../ As the water rises the eggs hatch and the offspring have the flood season to prosper, during the months of May to August. Therefore, the yearly spawning is regulated seasonally. (This MIGHT mean they are most active in fishao from May to August)

Good luck out there!

Four NEW 5-star fish!

Thanks to Fisheur we now have four new "fives" to the 5-star fish section. These are: Beluga Sturgeon, Blue Marlin, European Konger and Goliath Tigerfish!

If you have any new "fives" I would be more than happy to know about it. And even if you catch a five that I already have I would still be thankful to have the data. It's important for the statistics =)

Beluga Sturgeon

Blue Marlin

European Conger

391cm 5-star Green Sawfish caught!

Finaly the Green Sawfish has been caught.
Today I have the Screenshot of the Green Sawfish that Weezle caught from the pier in Pinheira Beach. Another "five" for the collection =)

The Area Fishing Guide is coming along well. I added another row in the charts for "Time", because certain fish can only be caught during certain times of the day and some even only during certain months.

Sturgeon ftw.

I had some really nice catches myself yesterday. My biggest fish is now a superb 380cm Chinese Sturgeon that I caught in Aquayama!

Later I also managed to catch a really nice 125cm Pike. I was actually after the Goldcarp. But the hotspot I had right then was really super active. So I decided to throw in one of my new red & white plugs..and *WHAM* there was the pike on the very first throw!=)

Yummie!
-I like plugs!
I'm not sure if it matters exactly what kind of plug you use for different kinds of fish. What do you think? Atleast this Laketown pike liked my red and white plug =)

Have a nice day of fishing in Fishao!

Remember your notepad! =)

The Area Fishing Guide is moving along. There is alot of data to collect, and the guide will keep collecting data for a long time since for example some fish can only caught during certain months of the year. Administrator Jin on the forum had the following to say:

1. Some fish can only be caught on specific places, for example when using a raft / boat.
2. Some fish can only be caught in specific months, for example: from June till October.
3. Some fish can only be caught on specific times, for example: from 08:00 till 11:00.

This type of information is important. Especially when trying to catch more rare 4- or 5-star fishes. So my tip of the day for you is that when you catch this type of fish, use the notepad within your fishdex and note the following:
* Time.
* Month.
* Location within map, for example: From raft, shore, pier, left lake, right lake, etc.

This information is also important to help complete the area fishing guide, and making it accurate. So remember, Use the notepad when you catch fish! =)

That was all about the fishing guide for today..hehe...

On another note, yesterday I managed to catch the final two fish I had left to catch in Mystic Desert, which gave me 10 coins! The last fish I needed was the Nile Perch. I had ONE bait and ONE energy left and on my last throw I caught it! (lol)

Also, Weezle Managed to catch the Green Sawfish! I'm a bit jealous that he caught it before me. I'm fairly sure I had it on my hook atleast two times but lost it. But I realized why it got off my hook when I saw that Weezle's Sawfish was over 3 meters long!

SORRY though guys, no screenshots this time. The file I recieved got corrupted somehow. I'll post you the screenshot tomorrow though!

Giant Moray Now Caught! & New Area Fishing Guide!

It is said that there now is a new fish in Fishao. And this fish is said to be the Giant Moray. And guess what? It has already been caught! =)

KoningRick caught this cool fish yesterday. We are not 100% sure if it's the worlds first. But we are pretty sure, unless omeone else caught one with the exact same size!

On another note. I have been working on a complete Area Fishing Guide for Fishao. That's also why this blog entry won't be as long as the others. But as you can see there already is a button for it to the right and you can also click it in the top menu. It's heavily under construction right now so there is still alot of data I need to gather. But I think it can already be of help for some people.

If you feel you want to help and see some types of fish I haven't entered into the charts yet, feel free to send me information about the fish/fishes (Only for the areas I have already started charts for though). The best would be to send me screenshots to: fishaoblog-fish@yahoo.se

Full moon aftermath

So yesterday was full moon-day. In real life a full moon is rumored to have some type of effect on fish. The same rumor was floating about in the world of Fishao.

The supposed effect of the full moon is (irl):
1, Predator fish becomes more active since they think it's actually daytime.
2, Predator fish have an easier time spotting their prey since it's reflecting the moonlight.
3, Tides are said to be slightly affected making more areas at the coastal areas available for fish.

Todays question is, did you notice any difference during yesterdays fishing?

I know one player (EverGreen) who managed to catch two pikes in laketown. And the pike is considered to be rare. So that might have been because of the full moon, or it could simply have been luck.

Personally I didn't notice any difference. I took the opportunity to have a go at the Paddlefish with only the hook as bait (since that is what they can be caught on). I made about 70 casts during the night cycle, but didn't get any bite. I also tried fishing at Pinheira Beach but noticed nothing out of the ordinary there.

I can't tell if there was an actual difference. If I had more than 15 energy at a time I probably could have noticed a statistical difference between bite / no bite. But with the 15 energy you first have to find a hotspot, which might take about five casts or sometimes more, and then you have your remaining energy, maybe 10, to catch fish with. And any deviation in bite /no bite on just 10 casts can be the result of pure coincidence, unless you get like 7-10 bites in a row (which i didn't). To fully recharge your energy takes 45 minutes (3 min per energy unit). And 15 casts takes about 5 minutes or so to complete. Which means that every 50 minutes you might have an average of 10 casts in hotspots. Unless you cast once every 3 minutes, which might not be as good since hotspots get cold after a while.

Sure, one can use their coins on energy, but I don't do that very often since energy is free and rods are not =)

Ok so todays blog was much more analytical than usual, I apologize if it wasn't as "fun" as the others...lol =) So lets end it off with this amazing 5-star Barreleye which gave me the win in the Boat On Sea tournament!

Worlds first Coelacanth!

So...Wolffish during full moon ey?
Today is full moon. Will it bring any special catches?

I don't know. But one of the new 5-star catches I recieced really early into this day (around 05:00), is a Wolf-fish! Atlantic Wolffish to be exact.

And on another exciting note regarding "fives" is that the first ever Coelacantch has now been caught in Fishao! The player who caught it was KoningRick.
Have  a look at this beauty in the picture below.
World first!

On a personal note I did not have the best of days.X-) ...But it was kinda funny actually.

I was doing the daily quest, and for that I needed to be top 3 in a tournament. I also needed a new rod (simple rod for tournament is not so good). But If I bought the rod I couldn't afford the tournament! (lol). I bought the rod and spent all day using lesser rods, doing achievements to get 5 coins for the tournament. With one hour left on the daily, I had 5 coins! I enter a tournament but do NOT end up in the top 3 and lose all my coins! (lol)

Paddlefish secret REVEALED, and Ingame FISH RADAR!

I have a number of cool news and pieces of information to reveal in the 5-star fish guide today! Thanks everyone who keeps sending me screenshots and information! Did you know that Golden Trout can not only be caught in the trout farm? The player Granny actually caught one in the Lake Run tournament, and not only did he catch it in a "new" location, he caught in on a  "new" bait too: Plug!

Caught with WHAAAT?!
Other new entries are:
*Mandarinfish (beautiful), *Barreleye (transparent head!), *Lionhead Goldfish

And then we have the "secret" 5-star fish that I wasn't sure If I was going to reveal yet. But -What the heck! Have a look at the right pic.

Personally It wasn't my best day of fishing. I lost three rare and big fishes at Pinheira Beach...not strong enough rod X-). If I had more coin I would be able to show u guys new cool fish =)
Barracuda, always a nice catch!

However! My best catch of the day was probably the Barracuda I caught in the Boat On Sea tournament, really nice fish!

I end todays blog with another piece of exciting new information. I made a suggestion on the Fishao Forum on a way to make it possible to scout fish locations.
Administrator Jin replied:
-Actually, we're planning some new kind of gadgets to find hotspots... ;-) Expected: this summer.

He then showed THIS picture:
Fish radar coming THIS summer!

LSD-fish

As I mentioned in earlier posts I have been trying to catch the Green Sawtooth, but it's still eluding me. Yesterday I burned out one whole power rod purely in my attempts to catch it.

Nighttime only!
Oh, and I also said that Pacuma Toadfish seems to be a nighttime fish. But I have now caught it during the day too.

I did however catch another fish, this one in Sibiri City. This one is strictly a night fish though, atleast according to it's description. The Silver Scabbardfish. I caught around four or five of those in one single go and It's a four-star fish and gives you a good amount of xp. Might have been just pure luck, but those might be a good idea if you want to level up while the Trout farm is closed.

While in Sibiri I also managed to catch my first Opah. Another nice four-star fish with some nice xp. And it looks really cool and different.

Cool/Weird looking
I would say that the best bait in Sibiri is definitely fish. All the big fish like it, Silver scabbardfish, Opah, Tope Shark and some more.. and possibly some that I still don't know about.

The Mandarinfish, which you can catch in Pinheira Beach is probably the most beautiful fish in the world IRL, and maybe in Fishao too.

I haven't caught it yet. But some type of  insect seem to be good for it.

It's Australian cousin is called LSD-fish. Have a look at it and you'll understand why =)

The beautiful Mandarinfish

Unexpected catch!

Pacuma Toadfish. Try it at night.
I managed to catch a couple of more fishes that I never heard about before. First one was at the beach. I was actually trying to catch Green Sawfish. And it's very possible that I had one because I was using a quality rod and fish as bait, and all of a sudden a huge fish bites (looked like a 5-star) and manages to get away! So it was atelast larger than 150cm.

So I had to switch to my Power Rod and keep trying. I never caught it but all of a sudden I get something I never seen before, a Pacuma Toadfish! If you wanna have a go at it, try it at nighttime!

I also caught another fish that was new to me in Mystic Desert:

Psst...While in Mystic Desert, use Insects.
All my good rods are worn out now though. So I don't know when I will be able to continue my hunt for the Green Sawfish.

If I had the Fishao rod I would probably have it by now though!

The Fishao Rod
.....-Oh great spirit of ....fish.... I guess....give me the Fishao rod,
 Amen!

Oh, by the way! You know Bobs minigame where you collect coins? For some reason he decided to let me collect some coins again! You might want to try it! (edit: I found out later you can actually do that minigame once a week)

Closing with a tip from Mitch. Ever heard about Coelacanth before? Not me!

New 5-star fishes

I have started recieving data/screenshots on other peoples 5-star fish that they caught. So make sure you check out the newly updated 5-star fish section of this blog. Thanks everyone for sending to me!

On another note I actually managed to catch a 5-star myself. A Red Scorpionfish caught during the Boat On Sea tournament! I was not doing super great, I was in third place, but in the end I caught this fish which made me win =)

And by the way, In one of my other tournaments my fellow competitor Weezle managed to catch a real MONSTER 444cm Atlantic Bluefin Tunafish (4-star). Do I have to mention that he won?

Another catch I'm happy with is the Mekong Giant Catfish I caught during a Lake Run tournament. A nice 4-star one:

I can really recommend doing tournaments. It gives you a really nice xp boost and you have an opportunity to catch some really rare and/or giant ones.

If you only have a 60-100cm rod I would recomend doing the "Magic 15" or Race tournament, since you rarely catch fish larger than 60 cm there. Although I  was lucky and won my first Boat On Sea tournamnt with only dough and a 100cm rod!.

Mandarinfish?! What the? ... 5-star fish?

I end todays blog with a mysterious advice from Mitch, the crazy guy on the beach. Have you ever heard of that fish before? I haven't!

Exciting news

I came up with the idea of a 5 star fishing guide to help you catch the rare ones!

Check out the guide. And If you want you can help me complete it. Just go to the guide in the right or top menu and find info there about how to help.

I now leveled past 25 wich means I recieved the bronze rod for free, pretty nice!

And this also helped me to get a new personal record on Tope Shark!

Some nice fish today!

Damn Bream!

One of the things I had to do for my daily quest (which I started the day before) was to catch 3 Bream. I caught two on dough very quickly and then I went to bed. And so today I could not for the life of me catch any more of those suckers X-) ... I litterally had to throw out my bait around 120 times before I caught the last one! (I'm not even kidding), and I only had 20 minutes left on the challange. So that was a relief!

I got some really cool Plugs as reward.

Green Sawtooth?

You know the crazy guy down at the beach, Mitch. He told me I could catch Green Sawtooth with Plug. Good opportunity to try out my new Plugs.
Mitch, crazy but right.
I didn't catch any sawtooth, but I did catch my first Common Dolphinfish. And not just ONE, I caught three in a row! And those are 4 star fish, largest one was 146 cm, so thats nice for your xp!

I still want to catch that Sawtooth though! Hopefully soon!

I did lose one HUGE fish though, It was a 4- or 5 star fish, but even on my Quality Rod with capability of 150cm fish, I stood NO chance against that great beast...What the hell could it have been, was it the sawtooth?

Just as I was to log off I also caught my first Eel. As I understand they can only be caught at night. A small 39 cm catch, but still a nice catch!

But then a couple of seconds later my friend Weezle catches a 139cm WORLD REORD Eel, that bastard! X-)

Will I catch the Sneaky Green Sawtooth any time soon?

The Fishao blog has begun!

A couple of days ago I stumbled upon a free flashbased MMO Fishing game. Since it looked really unique, and since I have done a bit of fishing in my life I decided to try it. And boy, it was fun!

I now have about 48 hours of total playtime and I'm loving it. I have caught a couple of rare (5 star) fish so far.

Namely these two:
Tiger Trout

Cornish Jack

Yesterday I also managed to catch the mysterious Golden Arawana, and that unlocked Sibiri City!

As soon as I got in there I bought a power rod to be able to land the Tope Sharks, since I heard they could be the size of almost 2 meters! And on my very first throw with that rod I landed the beuty below on 175cm!
